Louisville football quarterback Malik Cunningham will return for the Cards for one more year.
Louisville football fans have been desperate for some positive news over the last couple of weeks.
I think this news qualifies as positive.
After shockingly losing homegrown wide receiver Jordan Watkins, Louisville fans began to panic a bit.
However, on Friday, Cunningham announced his return with a simple tweet.
Cunningham had an electric redshirt junior season for the Cardinals.
He threw for 2,734 yards and 18 touchdowns while running for 977 yards and 19 touchdowns with a gaudy 6.0 yards per carry.
Although many have clamored for Louisville football to part ways with head coach Scott Satterfield, this seems like news that contradicts any notion that Satt is headed out the door.
The Louisville athletic program is still struggling to generate enough revenue during a period of expensive buyouts.
However, with Cunningham back in the saddle for one final ride, the Cardinals should be able to field a highly competitive offense in 2022.
