We crunched the numbers, and the narrative is clear: Taylor Swift is the biggest distraction for Louisville football since Call of Duty.
As you should know by now, when it comes to Louisville football and basketball, we are a very data-driven site. We only come with hard-hitting numbers.
So, it should come as no surprise to Louisville fans that when we learned of pop/country superstar Taylor Swift’s release of her new album Midnight, we had to know how much of a distraction her music has truly been in the past.
We crunched the numbers, and folks, it isn’t pretty.
Take a look for yourselves.
It’s clear: When Taylor Swift releases an album, Louisville football doesn’t know what to do with itself.
The data started off unconvincingly. Louisville secured one of the biggest wins in program history over No. 3 West Virginia in 2006 just days after the release of Swift’s debut album Taylor Swift.
But, let’s be honest. Most didn’t know about Swift at the time of the first album release.
Since then, the numbers have been damning. A 2-6 record, including losses to Boston College with Lamar Jackson under center and Pitt during Charlie Strong’s first season.
Louisville has only won once against Power Five competition after Swift released an album.
If Scott Satterfield and the Cards drop Saturday’s game against Pitt, there will certainly be heat directed at the coaching staff. Namely “how do you think you could have prevented your players from listening to so much T swift over the last 48 hours?”
