The ACC had no shortage of exciting storylines in week 6 as the top of the conference begins to separate itself from the pack.
Week 5 ACC Power Rankings HERE.
14. Duke
The Blue Devils finally faced a competent opponent this week and showed no reason to not remain at the bottom of this list.
13. Syracuse
The only reason that Syracuse isn’t in last this week is that Duke is a member of the ACC.
12. Florida State
The Noles notched their first win in a rather unimpressive fashion this week. But at least they have a pulse.
11. Miami
Miami’s lone victories are over Central Connecticut and App State. This is, perhaps, the lowest point in the Manny Diaz era.
10. Virginia
The victory over Miami on the road may look better as the season progresses. The Cavs look to sustain success on the road against cross-conference rival Louisville this week.
9. Georgia Tech
Last week, we thought Tech was turning the corner after a close call with Clemson and annihilation of UNC. Then, the Jackets went and let Pitt drop 42 in the first half in week five. This squad remains an enigma.
8. Pitt
The Panthers are in the middle of their toughest stretch of the season and got off on the right foot by blasting Georgia Tech.
7. Louisville
Louisville continued to show improvement on the road at Wake but mistakes ultimately cost the Cardinals a crucial victory.
6. North Carolina
Finally, the Tar Heels looked like the team we know they are capable of being, albeit against lowly Duke. Still, it’s a blowout win over a conference rival is nothing to overlook. UNC may have the best combination of talent and experience in the league.
5. Boston College
The Eagles entered this weekend undefeated. The question was BC’s ability to compete with the top of the ACC. They looked the part in a near-upset of Clemson on Saturday.
4. Clemson
Pretty much a different week but the same story for the Tigers. Clemson is a stalwart on defense, but how many games can they win looking simply inept on offense?
3. Virginia Tech
The Hokies opened as a 1-point home dog to Notre Dame this week. Let’s see where they stand after a bye week.
2. Wake Forest
Dave Clawson’s squad continues to bring a balanced attack to the table. In a solid victory over Louisville, Wake’s offense made all the right plays at the right times. The ride and read continues to be nearly impossible to prepare for and Wake’s experienced depth could be what catapults the Deacs toward a 10-win season.
1. NC State
State’s win over Clemson remains the best victory of the season. Their slow start against a game Louisiana Tech team feels more like a product of big-game hangover than an indictment of their abilities.
