LIBA Hosts Another Successful Buy Local Fair

The Louisville Independent Business Alliance enjoyed another successful Buy Local Fair this year.

The event was held at Lynn Family Stadium for the first time in its history, which provided a great atmosphere for the more than 2,000 people who came out to support over 100 local businesses.

Some business owners enjoyed that the fair was just a flat-out good time.

Reagan Stremel, the Marketing and Events manager of Rainbow Blossom, sponsored a cooking competition.

“It’s a super fun event, we get to meet a lot of people,” said Stremel. “It’s a nice day to get out of the store and into the community,”

Aside from the cooking, Lynn Family Stadium’s bar was open to the public, there was a Kid’s Fun Zone for anyone who brought their children, and the Kidpreneur Market- who is with the Ace Project, a non-profit organization that runs a program teaching kids about running their own business.

Additionally, the Buy Local Fair is incredibly effective in advancing the mission of LIBA. LIBA strives to promote and support local businesses as much as it can. Luckily for LIBA, they also have members who are all in on the mission as well.

“Not only do I love being in the local community, but I love to support other locals too and other vendors,” Dee Dee Taylor of 502 Hemp said. “Because it’s all about supporting each other. It gives your store the credibility that you are truly a local business in the community… LIBA has always been really good at promoting the local businesses and I love that about LIBA.”

Another plus side of the fair is that you get exposed to some really good local food.

In addition to retail businesses and crafters, there were food trucks from six local food vendors- Shack in the Back BBQ, Red Top Gourmet Hot Dogs, Snow Queen Shaved Ice, Rice Now Asian Food Truck, BobaVerse, and SnoWhat Snoballs.

First time fairgoers, Shack in the Back BBQ, raved about how their business benefitted from attending the Buy Local Fair.

“Bringing in new business and letting people know where we’re at, where we’re located,” Jessica Milligan of Shack in the Back said.

“Definitely,” Milligan said when I asked if they will be back next year.

LIBA will continue its mission with its South Points Buy Local Fair, which will be held at Iroquois Park on July 13th.
