Louisville baseball: Tague Davis named to D1 Baseball’s ‘Top-50 First Basemen’ list

Louisville baseball first basemen, Tague Davis, named to prestigious pre-season list.

As preseason accolades, especially from D1 Baseball, are wrapping up the closer we get to Opening Day, it’s now easier to count which positions Louisville baseball does NOT have a guy on any of the Top Player lists.

Our guy Tague Davis, another one of the Super Sophomores and one more who is poised for a phenomenal year, checks in to the D1 Baseball First Basemen at the highest ranking of any Louisville player on any list – Number 4. To make the list is excellent. To be in the top half is better. Cracking the Top-10 is elite.

What it means for Tague Davis

Tague at number 4 signals to the baseball world that one of the preeminent outlets for scouting and reviewing talent thinks one of our guys is in the running to be THE best.

Plainly put, the folks that know ball the best know what Tague Davis is capable of this year, however they did leave out his potential to derail a train, so that stat still belongs to me.

Year to shine?

In a Freshman campaign that saw him play in all but two of Louisville’s 66 games, Tague set the Freshman home run record (18) while batting .283 with nine doubles and 52 RBI. His 18 homers were tied for the most in the ACC, and his stats earned him numerous awards, including 2025 Perfect Game Freshman All-America First Team, 2025 Baseball America Freshman All-America Second Team, 2025 D1Baseball Freshman All-America Second Team, 2025 NCBWA Freshman All-America Second Team, 2025 All-ACC Third Team, 2025 ACC All-Freshman Team, and was a 2025 Collegiate National Team Prospect.

He even pitched 3.0 innings in five appearances on the mound.

It will be tough to top those numbers in 2026, but with the overall demeanor of the team and their workman-like approach to this season, I think the sky is the limit for not only Tague Davis, but the entirety of this Cardinals roster.

The Louisville Baseball season begins this coming Friday, February 13th, at 3:00pm vs Big Ten foe Michigan State.
