The Louisville football 2023 class is now serving up a triple stack of pancakes.
Louisville football continued to seize recruiting momentum on Monday after the commitment of 2023 offensive lineman Madden Sanker.
The 6’4″, 305-pound Douglassville, Georgia native chose the Cardinals over a final five that included Georgia, Arkansas, Miami, and Michigan State, and offers that included Kentucky, Tennessee, and a laundry list of other Power Five programs.
Long considered a Louisville lean, Sanker pulled the trigger 3 weeks after his official visit.
The No. 4 ranked inside offensive lineman and No. 108 overall player in the class, Sanker becomes the third-highest rated commit in 2023.
Sanker would be the 11th-highest rated player in Louisville football history if he and fellow commits DeAndre Moore and Rueben Owens ultimately sign with the Cards. Sanker is also the highest-rated offensive lineman in school history to commit to the Cardinals.
With Sanker’s commitment, the 12th of this recruiting cycle, Louisville football jumps up to No. 14 in the 2023 class rankings.
Here is a little breakdown of Sanker’s game via Chris Singletary of 247Sports.
The 6-foot-4, 297-pound lineman with a 78-inch wingspan has a frame and build where he can trim and lean out while in turn adding mass in his upper body. He has solid definition in his lower body that will continue to get stronger as he grows and matures. Sanker has good body control and shows good agility in his movements. The flexibility that he possesses is decent and will improve over time with work and development.
The power and physicalness that he plays with stands out when he makes contact with his opponent. Does a good job of clearing through traffic to get to the 2nd level to engage linebackers in the run game. Once he latches on the defender he has strong hands and upper body strength to sustain the block. In the pass game his technique is above average where he shows patience with his hands and timing of his punch. Adequate in his capacity to redirect once the defender changes directions and his to adjust on the move to pick him up. In terms of the bull-rush he is able to anchor down and strong enough to stalemate the pressure of his opponent.
Sanker brings a mauler, aggressive mentality to the field in his play. As a guy who plays both tackle and guard his future projects more to the interior, where he will be able to refine his game. The talent is there to play both guard spots at a high level where he should be a multi-year starter at the Power-5 level.
