Who runs the state of North Carolina? Louisville volleyball does.
Louisville volleyball is is hitting midseason form in the highest fashion.
Dan Meske and company closed out the past week with yet another sweep of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Facing Notre Dame for the second straight match, the Cardinals didn’t pull any punches, taking both contests in just six sets total to secure back-to-back sweeps.
That wouldn’t be the only sweep of the week, as the Cards kept their momentum rolling and said, “Why stop now?” They went on the road to face the NC State Wolfpack and finished that match in just three sets as well, marking their 12th sweep of the season.
North Carolina bleeds red
After their impressive showings against Notre Dame at home and NC State on the road, the Cards didn’t have to travel far for their next matchup. They took a short 36-minute trip to Winston-Salem to face Wake Forest. The Cards continued to handle business, winning 3–1. And I know what you’re thinking — don’t worry, there’s no need to panic. Louisville will return to sweeping fashion soon enough.
This win marked an undefeated record this season against teams from North Carolina, as the Cards beat Duke, North Carolina, NC State, and Wake Forest by a combined 12 sets to 2. Some might even call it their home away from home.

Thrice as nice
Two Cardinals took home ACC honors (again): Nayelis Cabello and Kalyssa Blackshear both earned their third ACC weekly awards of the season. Cabello was named ACC Co-Setter of the Week with an impressive 86 total assists, while Blackshear earned ACC Freshman of the Week honors once again after collecting 29 total kills.
In one standout performance, Blackshear logged 34 total attempts — a great sign for the freshman moving forward.
It’s clear that head coach Dan Meske has full confidence in his young opposite hitter.
Welcoming the girls back home
As much as the Cardinals love the state of North Carolina, they’ll be glad to return home this week for two matchups.
First up is Florida State on Thursday, November 13, broadcast on ESPNU at 8 p.m. Hopefully a certain company run by a certain mouse doesn’t interfere with too many Cards fans this week — but if they can’t make it to the game, they’ll still have a chance to cheer from home.
The Cards will then face Miami on Sunday, November 16. Both matches are excellent opportunities for Louisville to carry their momentum into the latter half of the season and finish strong down the stretch.
