Louisville women’s basketball: Cards land center of the future Imani Lester

Louisville women’s basketball may have just landed its big of the future in 2022 commit Imani Lester.

In women’s basketball the rich tend to keep getting richer, and nowhere is that truer than for the Louisville women’s basketball program.

The Cards and head coach Jeff Walz just cemented yet another strong recruiting class when they received a verbal commitment from class of 2022 forward Imani Lester.

Lester joins Nyla Harris and Alexia Mobley

The 6’3″ big from Raleigh, North Carolina chose the Cards over UNC, UConn, Duke, Florida State, and NC State among others.

What Lester brings to the table

Right away, outside of the obvious college-ready size, Lester’s ability to do damage in a variety of ways in the post stands out.

A big gripe-if there really has been one- from Louisville women’s basketball fans has been the Cards’ ability to handle things in the post. It feels like every season, the Cards are knocked out of the Elite Eight or Final Four by a team with massive, dominant bigs.

Lester joins the fold with fellow class of ’22 member Mobley (6’2), Romani Parker (6’4), Olivia Cochran (6’3), and Sydni Schetnan (6’5). That is a solid group of forwards and centers.

Dan Olsen, one of the premier women’s basketball recruiting analysts had this to say about the rising senior.

Strong, agile front court performer brings skilled interior footwork complemented by face up threat to the arc; rebounds, handles in transition; versatile prospect on both ends of the floor; the work ethic needs to match and exceed the skill level.

The future continues to look bright for Jeff Walz and Louisville women’s basketball.
