Quick reaction to the 2023 Louisville football schedule

Louisville football released its full schedule on Monday night. Initial reactions to Jeff Brohm’s first crack at the ACC.

Finally, I can start filling out my calendar.

Spring Game
April 21st

Georgia Tech (N- Atlanta)
September 1st (Fri)

Murray State
September 7th (Thurs)

Indiana (N- Indianapolis)
September 16th

Boston College
September 23rd

at NC State
September 29th (Fri)

Notre Dame
October 7th

at Pitt
October 14th

BYE
October 21st

Duke
October 28th

Virginia Tech
November 4th

Virginia
November 9th (Thurs)

at Miami
November 18th

Kentucky
November 25th

Some very quick initial thoughts:

Is this the best schedule for Louisville fans in program history?
Only three true road games, 7 home games. Two neutral-site games and a true road game are all within 6 hours of Louisville.
Plus, you get Notre freaking Dame at home, Kentucky at home, and get to potentially begin a rivalry with Indiana.

No true road games until week 5 at NC State.
A Friday night road game against a team that is a sleeper to make the ACC Championship game.

Louisville’s opener at Georgia Tech has been moved from Labor Day to the Friday before.
If you are heading down to Atlanta, adjust your plans accordingly.

NC State, Notre Dame, and Pitt is a potentially backbreaking stretch.
Similar to Louisville’s tough run of Pitt, Wake, JMU, Clemson, and NC State in 2022.

Bye week in Week 8.
Kind of love that.

Duke off of a bye week is going to be mentioned as a “trap game” ad nauseam in the offseason.
Heard it here first. The Blue Devils put up 33 points per game last season.

Getting Virginia Tech at home again is a real blessing.
Still, the only place the Cards haven’t played an ACC road game.

Could Louisville at Miami be a game of very serious consequence come the season’s end?
Not to sound like too much of a homer, but it certainly feels that it will matter a lot for one of the two teams.

Kentucky Thanksgiving weekend once again.
And UofL’s coach really wants to beat those guys.

Four games on Thursday/ Friday.
Just like the good ole days.

More thoughts to come, but this should be a fun off-season.
