Louisville football head coach Scott Satterfield interviews for South Carolina position.
It’s been a hell of a month for Louisville football head coach Scott Satterfield.
After being mentioned in the South Carolina coaching search and then denying having interest in the job, multiple sources have confirmed that to be untrue.
Satterfield met with South Carolina Athletic Director Ray Tanner on Friday in Bowling Green. The news was first reported by South Carolina 247 Sports affiliate The Big Spur and then confirmed by Mike Rutherford of Card Chronicle.
According to John Whittle of The Big Spur, South Carolina is down to four finalists, including Satterfield.
The weekend of November 21st, Satterfield’s agent, Jimmy Sexton, was rumored to have had contact with USC about the position. By Tuesday evening, the rumors turned into full-fledged reports that Satterfield was interested.
Satterfield denied said reports on Twitter.
Satterfield, who is 3-7 in his second season at Louisville, is a native of Hillsborough, North Carolina. He has spent the majority of his career in North Carolina, with a three-year stint at Toledo and FIU. It is believed that a major factor in his interest in South Carolina is its proximity to his home state.
Last week, I wrote that regardless of Satterfield’s interest in the job, I felt that he would return to Louisville in 2021. Based on what I am hearing now, I’d be more inclined to lean the other way.
This would be a huge blow for a Louisville football program that currently has a solid group of commitments in the 2021 class. The college football early signing period begins on December 18th.
