Introducing 3rd & Central: The first-ever Louisville baseball podcast

The season is here and so is a new Louisville baseball podcast.

The State of Louisville Podcast network is growing once again, adding a new show dedicated to covering the Louisville baseball program.

Hosted by Matt McGavic of Sports Illustrated and Matt Sefcovic of Rivals, 3rd & Central will be the first-ever podcast solely created to cover the Louisville Cardinals

Episode 1 with Louisville baseball head coach Dan McDonnell

In episode one, the guys are joined by Louisville head coach, Dan McDonnell to talk about the 2021 season. It’s been 346 days since the Cards last took the field, but that hasn’t stopped anyone from anticipating big things.

They’ll enter the season ranked as the #7 team by Baseball America and #5 by D1 Baseball. Expectations are high for the Cards and a big part of that is because of their pitching. Headlined by Luke Smith, Adam Elliot, and day one starter Glenn Albanese, the Cards could have one of the best trio’s in the ACC.

They’ll also return several star hitters & infielders, including Alex Binelas and Henry Davis.

The guys ask McDonnell about what to expect from his stars, facing difficulties during the pandemic, preseason hype, and much more. They also take time to review the offseason that was and break down where they think the season will go.

Louisville will make their much-anticipated return to the field on Saturday when they take on Bellarmine at Jim Patterson Stadium. That game will be available on ACC Network Extra and can be heard on 93.9 The Ville with Sean Moth on the call. McDonnell’s squad will return to the field Sunday for a double-header with the Knights.
