Mark provides his thoughts on Louisville football retaining Scott Satterfield for 2022, the offensive performance in 2021, why playcalling was actually much better than people thought, and much more.

From The Pink Seats: 3 & Out (Offense):
First Down – Busted drive rate
- .055% – Ranked fifth nationally (according to Football Outsiders)
- Description: The percentage of offensive drives that gain zero or negative yards.

40 total goal-line plays were run in 2021 according to ESPN box scores. Of those 40 plays, the breakdown was:
- 33 runs (13 touchdowns scored) – .39% conversion rate
- 7 passes (4 touchdowns scored) – .57% conversion rate
4th down play calling
Louisville football went for it on 4th down on 27 occasions in 2021. Of those attempts, 14 were converted for first downs or touchdowns (66th nationally in conversion rate). The playcalling breakdown was:
- 19 runs (9 total conversions) – .47% conversion rate
- 8 passes (5 total conversions) – .63% conversion rate
3rd Down – Penalties
- 55.31 penalty yards per game – 74th in the country
- 6.23 penalties per game
4th Down – Offensive turnover rate
- .79% – 27th in the country
- 13 turnovers – 21st in the country
- 2020 – .103, 119th nationally
- 2019 – .116, 66th nationally
