The State of Louisville

State of Louisville Podcast Network: Starting Five02, Louisville basketball, UNC recap

Nick Conner and Presley Meyer break down an overtime loss to UNC that was directly tied to piss-poor officiating.

Louisville’s energy and execution were evident for 40 minutes+ on Tuesday night in a 90-83 Overtime loss to North Carolina.

The Cards were led by El Ellis with 25 off the bench (5-11 from 3pt) and went toe-to-toe down the stretch with a longer, more athletic Tar Heels team before simply being hosed by ACC officials–again.

A late flop by Carolina’s Amando Bacot led to a Jaelyn Withers technical foul (and an early trip to the bench), followed by potentially one of the worst calls in ACC Basketball history at the end of overtime that cost Louisville a win and drew another Tech from Interim Coach Mike Pegues.

The guys break down the two (most) horrendous calls that turned the game, how Louisville battled like we haven’t seen all year, and why there must be optimism moving forward. Is Mike Pegues quietly inserting himself into the discussion for full-time Head Coach of the University of Louisville? All that plus quick thoughts on Saturday’s visit to Syracuse & much more.
