Louisville City vs Indy 11 Kick Out Cancer

Louisville City Kicks Out Cancer — and Indy — in the Same Night

Louisville City continued towards the postseason with momentum.

Louisville City celebrated their “KICK OUT Cancer” gameday against rivals Indy Eleven by wearing all-pink uniforms in support of breast cancer awareness, along with armbands featuring the names of those affected by the disease. It was great to see the organization go all out for such a meaningful cause and honor individuals impacted by it.

Not many better ways to show awareness than an early lead

It was the perfect night for it, too. Louisville City controlled the match from start to finish, asserting their dominance early when Amadou Dia opened the scoring in the 36th minute off an incredible assist from Kevon Lambert. The pass gave Dia such a clean look at goal that he could’ve walked it in if he wanted.

Louisville held the pace of play for the rest of the half, locking down defensively to keep Indy scoreless heading into the break.

Setting the tempo early

The second half started much like the first — with Louisville taking charge. The Boys in Blue (pink for the night) doubled their lead thanks to a brilliant solo effort from Taylor Davila that began on the defensive end. Davila intercepted a pass from the Indy back line, then carried it forward and buried a clinical strike from the edge of the 18-yard box, tucking it perfectly into the bottom corner — a shot that no keeper could’ve stopped.

Late booking creates goalkeeper drama

Even with a 2–0 lead, Louisville City couldn’t afford to relax. In the 70th minute, goalkeeper Damian Las made a rare mistake, giving the ball away just outside the box. Las quickly redeemed himself — sort of — by preventing an open-goal disaster, bringing down Indy forward Romario Williams and earning a red card in the process. Louisville stood tall on the ensuing free kick, deflecting Indy’s best chance to claw back into the match.

Danny Faundez steps up big

Following Las’s red card, Louisville subbed off forward Phillip Goodrum to bring in Danny Faundez between the posts. Saying Faundez played well would be an understatement. He was a crucial part of this win. Down to ten men, Louisville absorbed constant pressure from Indy, but Faundez made save after save, firing up the crowd with every stop. His clutch performance sealed another dominant rivalry victory for The Boys in Blue.

Louisville City continues historic campaign — and Danny Cruz makes history

With the win over Indy Eleven, Louisville City improved to 20-6-1, extending their lead atop the Eastern Conference to 11 points. The victory also moved them within one point of clinching their second straight USL Championship Players’ Shield.

On a night already full of drama, manager Danny Cruz made history of his own, guiding Louisville to their 100th USL Championship win under his tenure. It was a night to remember for Louisville City fans, as the club continued its dominant run heading into another home matchup Saturday against Miami FC.
