Louisville women’s basketball is back on Wednesday to take on a tough Duke squad.
The now second-ranked Louisville women’s basketball team heads on the road to open conference play versus the Duke Blue Devils on December 9th.
After back-to-back 100-point performances, the Cards came out a little lackluster in their 85-67 victory over UT-Martin on Sunday. Now, the Cards look to get back on pace in their showdown with the Blue Devils.
Louisville women’s basketball is 5-3 overall against the Blue Devils. They currently hold a 3 game win streak in the series. The most recent meeting between Louisville and Duke was a narrow 60-55 win last season. The Cards were led in scoring by senior Jazmine Jones’ 26 points. This year, the Cards will be looking for some current players to pick up where Jones left off.
The Cardinals come into the game being led in scoring by senior Dana Evans with 20.3 ppg, but freshmen Hailey Van Lith and Olivia Cochran along with transfer Kianna Smith also averaging double-figure scoring. Hailey Van Lith leads the team with 27.3 minutes per game, while her counterpart, Cochran, leads the team with 8.3 rebounds per game.
Duke enters the game with a 3-0 record, but not having been challenged thus far this season. First year head coach Kara Lawson brings a ton of promise to a school with a proud basketball tradition.
The Blue Devils are led by junior Miela Goodchild. The 5’10” Australian guard brings a tough match-up for a smaller Louisville frontcourt.
Louisville women’s basketball and Duke will tip off at 7 PM on Wednesday, December 9th. The game can be seen on RSN and heard on 790-AM WKRD.
