Bellarmine basketball finished off non-conference play with a bang.
Bellarmine basketball finished off non-conference play with another decisive victory, this time over Division III Mount St. Joseph 90-38.
The Knights got off to an early start by scoring the first 7 points of the game. The Lions kept it close early though. With the Knights up 7 with 10:58 left in the half, a switch seemed to flip as they went on a 15-1 run and didn’t allow a basket until the 4:20 mark of the half. Bellarmine would enter the half up 42-20
The 2nd half was more of the same as the Knights kept their foot on the gas and didn’t allow the lead to get under 20 the rest of the night. The team emptied the bench and even with the margin out of hand, the players were excited to see their teammates get some action and score.

Takeaways for Bellarmine basketball
Once again, all 14 players that were available for Bellarmine saw action and all but one of them scored. Nobody saw more than 22 minutes of action and each member of the team contributed to the win. In fact, most of the points came from the bench as they outscored MSJ 52-0 in that category.
For the second straight game, BU led the entire way. Granted, the competition level was Division III, the experience of getting a win can go a long way for a team that hasn’t experienced much this year. By playing games on back to back nights, they got to prepare for the grind of the conference schedule which will see them playing back to back days for the next 8 weeks barring COVID concerns.
Player of the game
Sam DeVault came off the bench and provided a big spark for the Knights. He finished his night with 18 points on a very efficient 8-10 shooting including hitting both of his three-point attempts. DeVault also added 3 rebounds on the night.
Next Opponent
