Football szn is here? Yep. And we’re back to talk Louisville football spring practice.
In the midst of a Louisville basketball layoff, somehow there was a ton to talk about with Louisville football. While most programs won’t get going for a month or two, the Cards are already back for 2021 spring practice.
Fresh off of an offseason that can only be described as a roller coaster, Scott Satterfield will enter his third season as head coach. He’ll do with a staff that had some pretty notable turnover.
A preview of episode 9:
There’s no shortage of storylines entering spring. Whether it be coaching moves, defensive improvement, working in new players, or the turnover problem; this spring comes with a ton of intrigue. All of these topics we discussed in-depth in the episode.
Losing the star-studded trio of Javian Hawkins, Dez Fitzpatrick, and Tutu Atwell is a massive blow. Satterfield and company will have their hands full rebuilding an offense that has been nothing short of electric. It all starts with the quarterback position and correcting the myriad of turnover problems that haunted the Cards in 2020. Malik Cunningham will be counted on to have a huge spring and help the new-look offense transition.

Defensively, Louisville was fortunate to return defensive coordinator Bryan Brown. He and his staff have the opportunity to build on the defense’s breakout season in 2020. That means continuing to showcase the talents of corner’s Kei’Trel Clark and Chandler Jones in the secondary. Building an impactful pass-rush. Replacing two starters at safety and so much more.
We talk about the offense and defense in depth throughout the entirety of the podcast. That includes big storylines, position battles, and a new game called “Whatcha Mean?”
