#NicksPicks Week 5: College Football

#NicksPicks originated on the campus of Ohio University with a college student who simply believed they were very good at picking College Football games straight up. After a year hiatus, Nick has brought back his patented Saturday morning over-a-cup-of-coffee-rapid-fire picks. Got it? Good. Grab your mug and let’s get our Saturday rolling!

Season: 17-11 | Last Week: 3-3

12:00 pm et

14 Michigan @ Wisconsin (-2)

Camp Randall. Wounded Badgers. Michigan’s cupcake schedule crumbles at lunchtime. Vegas has the right team favored.

Wisconsin 20-17 | ATS: Badgers -2

8 Arkansas @ 2 Georgia (-16.5)

I’m not confident either top-10 matchup on Saturday is an instant classic, but I am confident that this Georgia defense is legit. Regardless of K.J. Jefferson’s health, I expect the Dawgs to roll. The toughest schedule in the country begins to bite the Hogs as the Georgia D loads the box and forces Arkansas receivers to win 1-on-1 matchups on the outside. Arkansas is officially on borrowed time.

Georgia 38-7 | ATS: Georgia -16.5

12:30 pm et

Louisville @ 24 Wake Forest (-7)

This just feels like a bad spot for the Cards. Satterfield called a beautiful first half in Tallahassee last week before completely pulling the e-brake for no reason. Wake has an extra day rest coming off of their Friday night thumping of a decent Virginia team, and I don’t see Satt confidently calling four quarters of gutsy offense. Great game for 40 minutes. Deacs pull away with back-to-back late scores.

Wake Forest 38-24 | ATS: Wake -7

2:30 pm et

7 Cincinnati (-2) @ 9 Notre Dame

Quick math tells me the Bearcats would be a touchdown favorite on a neutral site and that sounds about right. I’m not sure we actually learned a whole lot about the Irish last week at Soldier Field, but I also am struggling to read the Bearcats thus far. In the end this is only a must win for the road team and they find a way to get it done late. On a potentially wild Saturday, Cincinnati might just inch it’s way—legitimately this time—into the playoff picture.

Cincinnati 28-27 | ATS: ND +2

3:30 pm et

12 Ole Miss @ 1 Alabama (-14.5)

If this one were in The Sip I’d be taking the Rebels straight up. Lane Kiffin will find ways to scheme Corral and company to several early touchdowns, but it will be  bonkers scene in Tuscaloosa after Coach Saban praised Florida fans for the Swamp rocking two weeks ago. A tight one at half that begins to turn with a Ole Miss turnover late in the third quarter.

Alabama 42-31 | ATS: Rebels +14.5

3 Oregon (-8) @ Stanford

A 12:30 local kick feels like a letdown spot for the Ducks but I’m just not buying it. Look for the Stanford defense to wear down for the second week in a row. Ducks need to handle their business as eyes will be elsewhere in the country.

Oregon 38-17 | ATS: Ducks -8

6 Oklahoma (-11.5) @ Kansas St

Good Oklahoma offenses are due for a dud or two each year in Big 12 play. This Oklahoma offense isn’t even all that good. Manhattan will be rocking, Rattler will continue to struggle, and I’ll take the Wildcats outright. Sooners have played with fire and this is where they get burned.

Kansas St 28-27 | ATS: Wildcats +11.5/ML

6:00 pm et

10 Florida (-7.5) @ Kentucky

Gators proved in a letdown spot last week that they are in fact decent. I like Will Levis to be exposed and the Gators to make it ugly after half. Death, taxes, and Dan Mullen halftime adjustments.

Florida 34-17 | Gators -7.5

7:30 pm et

Indiana @ 4 Penn State (-12.5)

This line is wildly off. Indiana was clearly outplayed by WKU last week and will be in serious trouble at night in Beaver Stadium. Penn State BIG.

Penn State 41-14 | ATS PSU -12.5

Upset Special

Auburn +3 over LSU

Best Bet 🔒

Penn State -12.5
