Louisville basketball: The one transfer I want badly

Louisville basketball has two open scholarship spots, and I am hoping Chris Mack gets involved with this rising Sophomore.

Louisville basketball now has two vacant roster spots, and there is a name on the board garnering a lot of intrigue.

With the departures of Louisville’s two all-conference guards, head coach Chris Mack and staff did well in the offseason to load up the backcourt. The Cards will add JUCO transfer El Ellis and veteran guards Jarrod West and Noah Locke. Additionally, Louisville freshman Mike James figures to find a spot as a two guard in the rotation.

Still, the Louisville basketball back court could prove to be thin when there are injuries or foul trouble. Perhaps the demise of the 2020-21 season was the lack of depth behind David Johnson and Carlik Jones.

Because of this, I feel it is important that Mack goes out and lands another playmaker at the guard position.

As we detailed on Thursday, there are still plenty of solid options in the transfer portal. However, I feel that one name could be the perfect fit for the Louisville back court.

Rising sophomore and Utah transfer Pelle Larsson is a trending name to watch, and I could not be more excited.

Larsson, as you may have guessed, is a native of Sweden. He was a fantastic amateur player who generated a little buzz late in his recruitment last offseason. Now, after a solid year as a freshman at Utah, Larsson is looking for a new home in 2021-22.

At 6’5,” Larsson can play the 1-3 positions, but he could be an excellent option for Louisville basketball at the point.

Larsson, who averaged 8.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game last season, has a leaping ability and jumper that is a bit reminiscent of Kyle Kuric. However, it is his ball-handling, creativity, and passing that makes him an intriguing player.

The Swede is efficient in multiple facets. He shot over 46 percent from three point range last season and 88 percent from the line.

According to Evan Miya Analytics, Larsson was the 46th most efficient player and 29th best defensive player in the PAC12 last season and would have been the most efficient player on the Louisville basketball roster.

The Louisville back court is solid heading into next season. However, if fans want to see the Cards rise to the next level, one more playmaker is needed in the back court.

Pelle Larsson could very well be that guy.
