Getting to know Louisville women’s basketball 2022 commit Jalyn Brown

My next interview is with the fifth and newest commit to the 2022 Louisville women’s basketball class. Jalyn “ICE” Brown. Brown made her commitment to the Cards on July 31st with a very cool commitment video on Twitter. Brown plays at St. Francis Academy in Upper Marlboro, MD. the 6’0 senior is the number 12 wing, and number 83 overall recruit.

With Brown’s commitment only two weeks ago, now seemed like a good time for Cards fans to hear from her. I caught up with Brown recently and asked her a few questions. Brown took a few minutes away from the camp she is at to let Cards fans hear from her.

BT: How would you best describe your playing style?

JB: I would describe my playing style as very fast-paced and selfless. I try to get everyone involved and win as a team.

What are you looking to work on during your senior season?

To definitely get stronger and a better IQ of the game.

What are your expectations of your team this season?

My expectations of my team this year are to just work as hard as we can so that we’re prepared to win every game during the season.

What most appealed to you about UofL?

The coaches were a big factor when it came to me choosing Louisville. I knew that I wanted to be coached by someone who is going to be honest, supportive, and make me a better overall player and person. I knew that coming to Louisville I would receive that not only as an athlete but as a student as well.

Have you gotten to know any of your future teammates?

I’ve gotten to know a good amount of them, however, I’m excited to meet all of my future family.

Have you talked to any of your fellow commits much?

Yes, I’m currently at a camp with Nyla Harris. I’ve talked to Alexia Mobley a lot because we’ve known each other since 8th grade. I’ve talked to Imani Lester because we met on our visit together at Louisville.

What do you like to do outside of basketball?

“I’m very artsy. I like to paint, sing, model, and make things.

What do you have on your playlist to get you hype before a game?

Actually, before most games I listen to gospel and some rod wave, which isn’t fast. I’d rather be settle and centered before a game rather than being hype.

Where did you get the nickname “Ice”?

I’ve had the name “Ice” since the 5th grade. When I first started playing I used to finger roll the ball accidentally. It made people think of the Iceman since he was known for his finger roll, so people started calling me Ice.

How is it going to feel that first home game when you walk out in front of 9,000 screaming fans?

I’m hoping that it fills me with good energy, and helps me imagine myself at my new home.
